DETAILED ITINERARY
Morning – Depart from Mombasa / Diani / Ukunda
Pick-up from your hotel in the morning and drive south through the coastal road to Shimba Hills National Reserve. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of coconut palms, villages, and the rolling hills of Kwale County. Upon arrival, check in at the park gate and begin your morning game drive.
Explore the reserve’s dense forest trails and open grasslands where you’ll spot elephants, giraffes, waterbucks, bushbucks, buffaloes, and the rare Roan and Sable antelopes, which are only found here in Kenya. The reserve is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, hosting species such as the African hawk eagle, green turaco, and hornbills.
Midday – Visit Sheldrick Waterfalls and Scenic Viewpoints
Take a guided walk to Sheldrick Falls, a picturesque waterfall hidden deep within the forest. The short hike (around 45 minutes each way) offers great photo opportunities and a chance to experience the forest up close. Enjoy a picnic lunch or hot lunch at Shimba Hills Green Safari Lodge or Shimba Hills Tree Lodge while overlooking the stunning views of the coastal plains and the Indian Ocean.
Afternoon – Return Game Drive & Drop-Off
After lunch, enjoy one last game drive as you exit the park, with chances to see more wildlife and birds. Stop briefly at the Elephant Hill viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the hills and coastline.
Depart for Mombasa or Diani, arriving in the late afternoon — refreshed and inspired by this short but rich safari experience.

- 36–60 days: 20% charge
- 16–35 days: 50% charge
- Less than 16 days: 100% charge
